NEET 2020: Exam Date, Admit Card, Pattern, Syllabus

After a long wait, the examination date for NEET 2020 has been finally revealed by National Testing Agency (NTA). This pen and paper-based or Offline mode examination are conducted once in a year and in this year, it is scheduled to be held on 26th July 2020.

In the official notification from NTA, the examination date, timings and the release date of the admit card of NEET 2020 has been publicized. This year, there will be a total number of 16.84 lakh aspirants who are going to appear for NEET entrance exam. All those participants who are eager to participate in NEET 2020 can now check the detailed information regarding the NEET examination.

NEET 2020: Application Form

NTA had earlier released NEET application form previous year on December 2, 2019, through online mode and the registration process was successfully completed on 6th January 2020. The correction window of NEET application for registered candidates was re-opened from April 1 and was concluded on May 3, 2020.

Eligibility Criteria for NEET 2020

Here are the eligibility criteria for NEET 2020, that every aspirant should consider and must have a look:

Nationality: Candidates must be Indian Nationals to apply for NEET 2020, however, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), Persons with Indian Origin (PIO) and Foreign Nationals can also apply for the same.

Age Limitation: The minimum age for the candidate to apply for NEET 2020 is 17 years of age by December 31, 2020, and there’s been no upper age limit.

Qualification: Candidates who have qualified Class 12th or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English as subjects are eligible for applying for NEET 2020.

NEET 2020: Examination Date

The examination date for NEET 2020 has been announced by Education Minister of India, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, on 5th May 2020 in one of his live session. He declared that the NEET 2020 exams will be held on 26th July 2020 (Sunday) and 16.84 lakh candidates will take part in it. Here is the list of some other important dates of the examination.

Exam Pattern of NEET 2020

Candidates who want to check the exam pattern of NEET 2020 can read the following details to get prepared before the exam.

Examination Mode and Type

NEET 2020 examination is going to be held through offline or pen-paper mode. The question paper of the examination is going to include the objective type of questions which will be available in a different medium of languages such as English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Urdu, Kannada, Oriya, Assamese, Tamil, and Telugu.

Total Number of Questions and Duration

There are going to be the total number of 180 objective types of questions that the candidates are required to answer within three hours of time duration.

Total Marks and Marking Scheme

The examination paper is going to be in the total number of 720 marks. The questions are further divided into three sections of subject i.e., Physics of 45 Questions, Chemistry of 45 Questions and Biology of 90 Questions. Every correct answer will reward you four marks while for every wrong answer, one mark will be deducted.

Syllabus for NEET 2020 Examination

The syllabus for NEET 2020 examination has been prescribed by MCI (Medical Council of India). The question paper of NEET (UG) will include the topics from three subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Biology of class 11th and 12th topics. The syllabus for NEET (UG) 2020 from Physics will include Work, energy and power; Laws of Motion, Electrostatic, Electromagnetic Waves, Current Electricity, Electronic Devices, Thermodynamics, Behaviour of Perfect Gas and Kinetic Theory, Optics, Properties of Bulk Matter, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, etc.

Chemistry

The syllabus for NEET (UG) 2020 from Chemistry topics will include some basic concept of chemistry, Equilibrium, Chemical Bonding and molecular structure, Hydrogen, Electro Chemistry, Surface Chemistry, Chemical kinetics, Classification of elements and periodicity in properties, Hydrogen, Aldehydes, Electrochemistry, Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers, Ketones, Carboxylic Acids, p-Block Elements, Coordination compounds, Thermodynamics, etc.

Biology

Preparation Tips for NEET 2020

Here is the list of several NEET preparation tips in order to improve your exam preparation before your exam date so that you can qualify the test quite easily:

  • Candidates must go through the syllabus thoroughly; you must be fully aware of your syllabus & exam pattern and don’t miss out anything. In order to make sure this, you should prepare a study time table along with your syllabus and must follow it strictly.
  • For better preparation, candidates must solve the sample papers and the question paper from the previous year.
  • Make short notes to prepare certain or difficult topics and practice more by giving online mock tests.
  • It has been noted and suggested that most of the questions in NEET (UG) examination are asked from NCERT textbooks, therefore, you must go through your Class 11 and 12 NCERT books to get good results.

NEET 2020: Answer Key

The Answer Key for NEET 2020 will be officially released by NTA soon after the exams will be over. Before that, the provisional answer key will be released initially, if any candidate has any objection regarding any matter then they can raise objections. However, this will also cost some charges of Rs 1000 each question; however, if your objection turns out to be correct then the money will be refunded.

NEET 2020: Cut-Off Marks

Cut-Off Marks are basically the minimum qualifying marks that you need to attain in order to get success in NEET examination. All those candidates who will score equal or more than the NEET 2020 Cut-Off Marks, will be qualified to get the admissions. The candidates must take note that for each category, institute and for MBBS/BDS, the NEET 2020 Cut-Off Marks will be varying. However, the Cut-Off marks for this year are not decided yet but you can get an idea from previous year cut off marks.

NEET 2020: Application Fee

The Application Fee for NEET 2020 differs in terms of categories from the range of Rs 800 to Rs 1,500. All the General categories candidates have to pay Rs. 1,500, while the candidates from SC/ST/PH/Transgender category have to pay Rs. 800. The candidates from General-EWS/OBC-NCL category will pay Rs. 1400.

NEET 2020: Admit Card

The official date for the announcement of NEET 2020 admit card is not released yet but it will be soon released by the authorities of NTA fifteen days earlier to the date of examination. In order to check and download the admit card, candidates have to enter their application number and date of birth in the official site. Candidates must take note that they must carry a valid ID proof along with their NEET 2020 admit card at the day of examination in their exam centre.

NEET 2020: Result Declaration

Once the examination will get over, the authorities of NTA will soon reveal the result of the candidates. However, the date for result declaration has not been announced yet but it will be announced soon. The result will be declared by NTA in online mode which candidate can check by logging in to the official portal through keying in their roll number and date of birth.

NEET 2020: Merit List

As soon as the result of NEET 2020 is declared, the authorities from NTA will gather a list of candidates who have qualified NEET 2020 on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidates and then the counselling is going to be held for the courses of MBBS/BDS/AIIMS/JIPMER and AYUSH UG.

Counselling of NEET 2020

After the candidate has qualified the NEET 2020 written examination, then he/she will be called for the counselling. Mainly, the counselling of NEET 2020 is going to have two rounds in total for All India and State as well. Afterwards, the mop-up round is going to be for available or unoccupied seats in estimated. The qualified candidates must require some documents that need to be submitted during counselling such as your NEET 2020 Admit Card, NEET Result, Marksheet and certificate of Class 10th and 12th, Photo ID and residency proof.
