GATE 2020: Counselling Date, Cut Off, Score Card & Admission

GATE 2020 Counselling Process has been started. GATE is a very popular online national level examination that has been held for attaining admissions into Master of Engineering (ME), Masters in Technology (MTech) or else the direct PhD to several renowned institutions of India such as Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), among many.

Exam Pattern of GATE 2020

For GATE 2020 examination, candidates have to answer multiple-choice and numerical type question which will be 65 in total in all the papers that was held on 1st, 2nd, 8th & 9th February 2020 vis Online CBT mode. The exam was of a total number of 100 marks and was required to be finished within three hours. The MCQs were of 1 and 2 marks which were allotted to the candidates for right answers while 1/3 and 2/3 marks were deducted for incorrect answers respectively. There was no negative marking for the numerical type questions.

GATE 2020: Syllabus

The Syllabus for GATE 2020 was earlier released by the board through online for several papers. There were many topics which were included in the syllabus ranging from the subjects of Engineering Mathematics, General Aptitude as well as the particular subject of the paper. The complete syllabus was made available online on the official online portal which can be checked by candidates by visiting the official website. For example, Engineering Mathematics, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, etc. were under the Civil Engineering (CE) syllabus.

Preparation Tips For GATE 2020

The Answer key of GATE 2020 was published by the Board for various programmes as well as subjects individually. Candidates were allowed to get access to the GATE Answer key by visiting the official online portal from 18th February 2020. Candidates were also allowed to raise objections if any.

GATE 2020: Cut-Off Marks

The GATE 2020 cut-off marks have been released by IIT Delhi together with the announcement of result. The cut-off marks were released through online mode on the official website for all the 25 papers separately on 13th March 2020.

Application Fee For GATE 2020

The application fee for GATE 2020 differs for each category, for General/OBC and Others category, Rs. 1500 is the fee while for SC/ST/PwD and Women (All categories), the fee charges are of Rs. 750. The candidates who have to choose Dubai and Singapore as their exam centres have to pay US$ 100 while candidates choosing Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka and Kathmandu as their exam centres have to pay US$ 50 as their application fee for GATE 2020.

GATE 2020: Admit Card

The admit card for GATE 2020 was released a month earlier to the examination date i.e., on 3rd January 2020. Candidates were asked to bring the to admit card along with ID proof at the examination centre at the date of GATE 2020 exam.

GATE 2020: Result Announcement

GATE 2020 Result has been already declared earlier on 13th March 2020 by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. All the candidates who have taken part in the examination on February 1, 2, 8, and 9 can check the results from the official site. Candidates can also download their scorecard by simply keying in their registration number and date of birth to the online portal.

The total marks of each candidate are evaluated out of 100 while the scores of every individual are going to be derived out of 1000 soon after the process of normalization.

The candidates can obtain the scorecard of GATE 2020 by entering their enrolment number and password on the official online portal. For those who want the soft copy of the scorecard can also get it between 31st May 2020 and 31st December 2020, though you will have to pay an amount of Rs.500 in order to get it.

GATE 2020: Counselling Procedure

After the announcement of GATE 2020 results, all the qualified candidates are asked to apply for the admission in IITs individually. On the other hand, there will be centralized counselling conducted for the admission in M.Tech/ M.Plan/M.Arch programmes into all NITs as well as several funded institutions by the centre. The counselling is going to start from 3rd June 2020.

Candidates will be asked to make the choice of the course as well as the colleges according to their preferences for the duration of GATE 2020 counselling. After that seats will be apportioned in several institutions for admission according to the rank secured in GATE 2020 examination.
